She said the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia reported that on October 29 Malaysian authorised agencies confirmed the detention of three suspects involved in the case. The victim was sent to hospital for treatment and was asked to cooperate with local police during their investigation.

Vietnam urged Malaysia’s agencies to implement measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens in the country and strictly punish culprits, Hang said.

The Vietnamese Embassy is working closely with local authorities to verify information, she added.
